Tobias Ernst

Since 2016, Tobias has been committed to protecting the intellectual property of HKW's clients, with a focus on drafting and prosecution of patents as well as representation in grant and opposition proceedings.

Tobias completed his intermediate diploma in physics at the University of Karlsruhe (TH). After working as a developer at IBM Germany Research & Development GmbH, he continued his studies and graduated from the University of Stuttgart. As part of his diploma thesis at the Institute for Computer Applications of the Faculty of Physics, he carried out simulations of geophysical processes on supercomputers.

He then completed a Master's degree in Translation Studies at the University of Sheffield and worked for many years as a specialist translator for IT, technology and patents while living as an expat in Ukraine, where he became one of the founding fathers of the German school abroad in Kyiv.

Outside of work

Tobias and his wife are passionate ballroom dancers.

Tobias also volunteers supporting Lutheran parishes in Ukraine, particularly in the framework of the Munich-Kyiv city partnership.
