Michael Schmid-Dreyer
Michael is one of the few attorneys in Germany who is admitted as both an attorney-at-law and a German and European Patent Attorney.
His IP experience includes proceedings before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court, the German Federal Court of Justice, the European Patent Office and its Boards of Appeal, the Unified Patent Court and German infringement courts. Michael is also handling patent litigation work at the Unified Patent Court (UPC). Having worked as a law clerk in one of the patent chambers of the Munich District Court, he is familiar with the do's and don'ts of patent litigation from a judge's perspective. Another focus of his work is employee invention law.
He received his law degree from the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. During his Master's degree at the Technical University of Munich, Michael focused on production and automation technology. He received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
Outside of work
Michael loves spending time with his family and enjoying nature, especially in Africa. When time allows, he likes windsurfing, running and calisthenics.
